Event Schedule

This is the proposed event schedule for Oklacon 2010. Please be aware that this schedule is currently being revised and events and times are subject to change. Events are marked by hour, by day, by location.

Thursday Events

• 2 PM at Turkey Roost - Facilities Open: All Oklacon volunteers are required to report at Turkey Roost at 2 PM on Thursday to begin setup. The camp site will be closed by Roman Nose State Park Rangers and off-limits to all atttendees prior to 2 PM, so please arrive at or after 2 PM.
  
  All Registration volunteers must report to CutePuppy in Turkey Roost at 2PM to begin setting up the registraion desk.
  
  All Setup volunteers must report to Horses' Ghost in Turkey Roost at 2PM to assist in unloading the kitchen, gear, and setting up the layout of the group camp site. This is a "Double Hour" opportunity to earn two hours for each setup hour worked.
• 3 PM at Artist Alley - Setup: All Setup volunteers must report to BlueOtter in Artist Alley to assist in moving matresses to the top balcony and all first-floor bunk beds out on level ground outside A-Frame #10. This is a "Double Hour" opportunity to earn two hours for each setup hour worked.
• 4 PM at Turkey Roost - Registration Opens: Come one, come all! All attendees to Oklacon must register at Turkey Roost to visit the group camp site and participate in Oklacon events. Registration closes at 7 PM on Thursday. Please note that concessions are sold through registration by either cash purchase or concession ticket redemption. When registration is not open, concessions may be purchased by concession ticket redemption only.
• 4 PM at Artist Alley - Opens: Artist Alley is a 24-hours a day venue for registered artists to produce and sell original work created at the con or bring their own pre-made original work to sell at the con. Only registered convention attendees may visit Artist Alley or any other Group Camp #2 venue, and all Artist Alley artists should register for a seat at no charge during registration to secure a spot throughout the con.
• 4 PM at Turkey Roost - Art Show Setup: Art Show volunteers will also be hanging artwork in preparation for the opening of the Art Show on Friday morning. Only registered dealer's and appointed Oklacon volunteers will be permitted into these areas at this time.
• 5 PM at Turkey Roost - Dealer's Den Setup: Registered dealers may set up their spaces in preparation for the opening of Dealer's Den on Friday afternoon during this one hour setup period.
  
  All Setup volunteers must report to BlueOtter in Turkey Roost at 5PM to assist in setting up bid sheets, assigning art show panels, hanging art, and marking reserved Dealer's Den tables. This is a "Double Hour" opportunity to earn two hours for each setup hour worked.
• 6 PM at Turkey Roost - Bring Your Own BBQ: Where's the beef! Right here, baby! Bring Your Own BBQ is a meet-and-greet around the fire pits at Turkey Roost where everyone is encouraged to bring hamburgers, hot dogs, bratwurst, or whatever other scrumptious BBQ items they will for a pre-con cookout. Hamburgers, hotdogs, buns, beverages, and desert will be sold at kitchen concessions in exchagne for concession tickets which can be purchased at registration for those who don't have any room left in their coolers; we've got you covered!
• 7 PM at the Campfire - Volunteer Rally: All Oklacon volunteers must report to BlueOtter at the campfire for the pre-con volunteers rally for a special welcome, last-minute assignments, and staff announcements.
• 8 PM at the Black Coyote Room in the Lodge - Super Sponsor Soirée: All Super Sponsors are cordially invited to attend this exclusive gathering to allow Oklacon and Safari's to personally extend their gratitude for your generosity and continued support in 2010.
• 8 PM at Turkey Roost - Apples to Apples: Join Tobias for a rip-roaring good time planning Apples to Apples, a card-based party game made popular at furry cons since 1999.
• 9 PM at the Campfire - Songs Around the Campfire: Bring marshmallows and your instrument of choice, whether your guitar, harmonica, or your voice, and enjoy a jovial rousing of music and laughter into the wee hours.
• 10 PM at A-Frame #1 - Werewolves of the Dark Arts: Join Tobias as he hosts another year of our popular take on 'Are You a Werewolf?'. Immensely popular in 2009, this group participation game is not only engaging, but may keep you up having a howling good time until the sun comes up!
• Midnight at Turkey Roost - Closed: Turkey Roost closes and is locked to the general public. Be sure to make any concession purchases for the evening prior to the witching hour.

Friday Events

• 9 AM at Turkey Roost - Registration Opens: Come one, come all! All attendees to Oklacon must register at Turkey Roost to visit the group camp site and participate in Oklacon events. Registration closes at 5 PM on Friday.
  
  All Registration volunteers must report to CutePuppy in Turkey Roost by 8:45 AM to begin setting up the registraion desk.
• 9 AM at Turkey Roost - Art Show Opens: Peruse the artistic works of furry artists local to the south central US and abroad. Works on display in the Art Show will be available for bidding at the Art Show Auction throughout the duration of the convention. Items receiving a winning written bid may be purchased and picked up on Saturday at 6PM. Items which receive too many written bids are sent to voice auction on Saturday at 7PM. Items which have a 'Buy It Now' option may be purchased on the spot at any time by speaking with the Den Boss or the Registration Desk. The Art Show closes at 6 PM on Saturday.
• 9 AM at Turkey Roost - Dealer's Den Open: Your eyes will boggle at the amazing artwork and wares you'll witness in our Den. Scan the Dealers' Den for amazing professional original artwork, prints, comics, multimedia items, and other goodies you can't walk away from. It's too good to be true! The Dealer's Den closes at 6 PM on Friday.
• 11 AM at Turkey Roost - Opening Ceremonies: Opening ceremonies are the official commencement and welcome to Oklacon 2010. Join the entire Oklacon volunteer corps for an introduction of your Guests of Honor, get the low-down on the must-see events, and join us for our humorous opening video. If you miss this event... then you're just a big poopy pants. Registration, the Art Show, Artist Alley, and Dealer's Den are closed for the duration of opening ceremonies.
• 12 PM behind Turkey Roost, Outdoors - Arts & Crafts by Guardian: Join Guardian for another installment of his popular arts and crafts extravanza. Get your creative juices flowing by creating original artwork with a wide variety of supplies. You can never have too much glitter...
• 12 PM at A-Frame #1 - Metaphysical Furs: Join Foxcat for a voyage into the great beyond, through a discussion of varying metaphysical beliefs, particularly popular beliefs and practices within the furry subculture, as well as an exploration about lesser-known topics on the fringe of our perceivable world.
• 1PM at A-Frame #1 - The Furry Image: Join Istanbul for a discussion about the Furry Fandom and it's long and sometimes tense run-ins with mass media, including tips on how to and how not to handle media attention, including at-the-con interview requests, unsolicited media attention in other situations, and e-mails soliciting interviews and the like.
• 1 PM Outside, Volleyball Net - Fursuit Bocce Ball: Oki Coyote will be corraling your favorite fursuiters for Oklacon's own take on an age-old sport: Fursuit Bocce Ball.
• 2 PM at A-Frame #1 - Art with Crys: Crys the Hybrid will be giving a on hour, interactive and instructional tutorial about her perferred artistic media, including an insight into the method to her wonderful madness, ripe with tips, tricks, and suggestions.
• 3 PM Outside, Volleyball Net - Cats vs. Dogs Volleyball: Who's the better pet? Wait, foxes are 'pets'... then, which is the dominating species, Cats or Dogs? No matter which your fursona embodies, join us for a sprited, competitive game of volley ball where the felines and canines will be pitted against each other until a victor is determined!
• 4 PM at A-Frame #1 - Art with Balto: Join our visual artist Guest of Honor, Balto, for an in depth look of his portfolio, and learn tips and tricks from a long-time animator in this interactive workshop format. No other events are scheduled at the same time as this event, to allow all participants to see our Guest of Honor in action.
• 5 PM at A-Frame #1 - Writer's Meet & Greet: Surely by now, your belly's rumbling. If it is, join active and aspiring writers at this social meet-and-greet hosted by Warnndog for a light snack of cheese and crackers.
• 5 PM Outside, Turkey Roost - Monster Croquet: Have smashing good time, have a ball. Come one, come all, to Monster Croquet, Oklacon's extreme-sports version of the popular lawn game transposed for the rugged environs of Roman Nose State Park.
• 6 PM at Turkey Roost - Seagull's Spaghetti Dinner: All vagrants can line up for a generous helping of Seagull Prophet's Spaghetti and Meatballs. Be sure to bring your ration card (your conbadge) though, we only have enough to take care of our own here! Enjoy your meal as accompanied by classic tunes from the Great Depression Era lofting through the early evening air.
• 7 PM at A-Frame #1 - Knotcast Live Podcast: Our performing Guest of Honor, Knotcast, will be recording one of their regular Podcasts live at Oklacon. Join this motley crew for adult discussion and insights on relationships and other topics until 9 PM. This is an adults-only event; all attendees will need to have their badge to enter this event. No other events are scheduled at the same time as this event, to allow all participants to see our Guests of Honor in action.
• 9 PM at Turkey Roost - Fursuit Dance: Suiters unite! The Fursuit Dance, DJ'ed by Heros and emceed by Oki Doki Coyote, is your chance to show us your groove on a suiter-only dance floor. Show us your inner animal as you shake and shimmy to our bass-pumping beats! While this event is a fursuit-exclusive hour on the dance floor, stick around until 10 PM to join the crowd and get down with beats requested by the attendees at large!
• 10 PM at A-Frame #1 - Charity Poker: Help us raise money for an outstanding cause at a charity game of poker hosted by Horses' Ghost. The Charity Poker tournament will close no later than 2 AM, for those fortunate enough to make it to the final qualifying rounds. This is an adults-only event; all attendees will need to have their badge to enter this event. In addition, those interested in playing must check in with the Registration Desk to purchase your buy-in for this charity event.
• 10 PM at Turkey Roost: By Request: You want it, you got it! Per the song request list filled out by attendees all year long, this "By Request" Dance Set features favorite grooves of our attendees, with a mix of yesterday and today's music. Have a last minute addition? Talk to our DJ and let him check his extensive library. This special request dance set will end at 1 AM. And no, we won't play Banana Phone.
• Midnight at Turkey Roost - Kitchen Closed: Concession sales are subject to end at midnight. Be sure to make any concession purchases for the evening prior to the witching hour.
• 1 AM at Turkey Roost - Closed: Turkey Roost closes and is locked to the general public. You don't have to go home, but you can't stay in here. Be sure to make any concession purchases for the evening prior to the witching hour.

Saturday Events

• 9 AM at Turkey Roost - Registration Opens: Come one, come all! All attendees to Oklacon must register at Turkey Roost to visit the group camp site and participate in Oklacon events. Registration closes at 3 PM on Saturday.
• 9 AM at Turkey Roost - Art Show Opens: Peruse the artistic works of furry artists local to the south central US and abroad. Works on display in the Art Show will be available for bidding all day long, with instant purchases available for pieces marked with the "Buy It Now" option. The Art Show closes at 6 PM on Saturday. Winning written bids will be cashed out at 6PM in Turkey Roost. Pieces that receive too many written bids will go to voice auction at 7PM in Turkey Roost.
• 9 AM at Turkey Roost - Dealers' Den Open: Your eyes will boggle at the amazing artwork and wares you'll witness in our Den. Scan the Dealers' Den for amazing professional original artwork, prints, comics, multimedia items, and other goodies you can't walk away from. It's too good to be true! The Dealer's Den closes at 6 PM on Saturday.
• 10 AM at A-Frame #1 - Character Creation with Rinzy: Join Rinzy for an in-depth look at the importance of and methods to create unique characters that vividly portray their personalities through species selection, body type, general character shape, and carefully selected color schemes.
• 11 AM at Turkey Roost, Outside near Cell Phone Hill: An exclusive Oklacon Fursuiter event, all suiters are encouraged to report to Okidoki Coyote along the side of Turkey Roost to line up for the Fursuit Parade. With your muzzle held high, show the rest of the convention your 'suiter pride!
• 12 PM at Turkey Roost - Safari's Animal Demonstration: Come meet the whole family at a live demonstration presented by Oklacon's designated charity: Safari's Interactive Animal Sanctuary. Get up close and personal with the furry critters that we're all working to raise money to feed this winter.
• 1 PM at A-Frame #1 - Guest of Honor Luncheon: A special treat just for supersponsors, Fuzzy Productions is hosting a private luncheon featuring Guests of Honor and a delicious three course meal prepared by Chef Chubby Husky and his fine kitchen staff. Join us for a fine dining experience with Oklacon's other generous supporters and get to know these two amazingly talented people in a delightfully personal way.
• 2 PM at Turkey Roost, Outside - Iron Artist: Up for a challenge? Four lucky budding and seasoned artists will be selected for Oklacon's Iron Artist competition, featuring a unique and challenging medium to be announced. This high stakes competition will grant a complimentary attendance to Oklacon 2011 as the grand prize
• 3 PM Outside - Predator & Prey: A Feral! tradition shared with Oklacon since 2004, we are continuing the tradition of honoring our Canadian furiends by bringing back this popular outdoor furry game! Your mission, should you chose to accept it, is to have a blast running, hiding, and chasing each other through the underbrush of Roman Nose State Park in a life-or-death game of predators, prey, and the elements. Read up on the rules in the conbook ahead of time, and meet at 3:00 outside of Turkey Roost to catch the winner of the Iron Artist competition and learn your assignments!
• 6 PM at Turkey Roost - Wolfie Howler's Chili Dinner: The wafting aroma of Wolfie Howler's spicy meat meal fills your nostrils as the Chili Dinner kicks off in Turkey Roost. Included in the price of registration, our complimentary meal goes quickly, so grab some grub while it's hot! Be sure to bring your ration card (your conbadge) though, we only have enough to take care of our own here! Enjoy your meal as accompanied by classic tunes from the Great Depression Era lofting through the early evening air.
• 7 PM at Turkey Roost - Art Show Auction: Art Show pieces receiving more than the maximum allowable written bids will be auctioned off in traditional voice auction format during this brief event. All winning written bids may also be cashed out and picked up at this time at the Registration Desk.
• 7 PM at A-Frame #1 - Wyld Circle: Join Wyld Circle, a newly created pagan furry group for a discussion about their group and their shared beliefs. This is a rite or ceremony of a group that shares beliefs, and the content of this panel is not necessarily endorsed by Oklacon or Fuzzy Productions.
• 8 PM Outside - Predator & Prey, Nocturnal Edition: New this year, we are cristening Oklacon 2010 with a fresh new take on Predator and Prey: Nocturnal Edition! Using the same basic rules at the regular game, P&P @ Night will use colored glow sticks and special flash lights to take the game to an entirely new level under the starry skies of Roman Nose State Park.
• 10 PM at Turkey Roost: DJ Heros' Dance: ...And the cat came back: DJ Heros returns to grace your eardrums with a set of his original music, with special guest appearances by other DJ's added for good measure. Find a friend and join us for a high-energy, kick-tail time in the Roost. This special dance set will end at 1 AM.

• 9 AM at Turkey Roost - Dealers' Den Open: Your eyes will boggle at the amazing artwork and wares you'll witness in our Den. Scan the Dealers' Den for amazing professional original artwork, prints, comics, multimedia items, and other goodies you can't walk away from. It's too good to be true! The Dealer's Den closes at 11 AM on Sunday, so be sure to get your last minute purchases in before the Charity Auction begins!
• 9 AM at Turkey Roost - Seagull & Guardian's Biscuit Breakfast: Hey there cowpoke, come join us for some delicious chow with a hearty breakfast of piping hot biscuits and peppered, sausage gravy. Hurry up, pard'ner, while the getting's good! Be sure to bring your ration card (your conbadge) though, we only have enough to take care of our own here!
• 10 AM at A-Frame #1 - Spiritual Furs: Join Warnndog, Shesta, and others for an unstructured, open discussion panel about various religions and belief systems shared by panelists and the audience. Special attention will be given to the issues issues and conflicts that Christian Furs face in the Furry Fandom as well as to the challenges of tolerance, respect, and mutual understanding shared by all faiths. This is a multifaith, echumenical discussion, and no rites or ceremonies specific to any faith will be performed at this discussion panel.
• 11 AM at Turkey Roost - Charity Auction: Join us for the most important event of the convention: The Charity Auction. Each year, our charity, Safari's Interactive Animal Sanctuary, depends on the demonstrated generosity of Oklacon to raise enough funds to feed its big cats and other exotic animals all winter long, after their gate admissions have tapered off with the colder weather. For eight solid years, Oklacon has chosen Safari's as the most worthy cause we could support as a fandom. The largest single fundraising event for Safari's, Oklacon's attendees consistently demonstrate their compassion and dwarf other conventions' records of giving for charity. This is an excellent opportunity to own amazing original artwork, commissions, and other valuables in return for helping Safari's provide for our animal kin. 100% of the proceeds of charity auction items go directly to Safari's Interactive Animal Sanctuary.
• 2 PM at Turkey Roost - Closing Ceremonies: Closing ceremonies are the official end of the convention events and activities; our proud time to announce our success for Safari's, hear final attendance numbers, and bid our Guests of Honor a fond fairwell until Oklacon 2011. We will also be announcing our 2011 Guests of Honor and theme at the end of Closing Ceremonies. Registration, the Art Show, Artist Alley, and Dealer's Den are permanently closed once closing ceremonies begin.
• 3 PM at Turkey Roost - Oklacon 2011 Pre-Registration Opens: Pre-Register for Oklacon 2011 after the end of the convention to register to win special bonus and get on our newsletter to keep abreast of our planning activities throughout the year.
• 5 PM at Turkey Roost - Cleanup: All Setup volunteers must report to Horses' Ghost in Turkey Roost to assist in packing up the kitchen and other supplies. Other volunteers will be asked to do pre-checkout checks on A-Frames, scour the Group Camp site for refuse to throw away, and put A-Frame's #1 and #10 back into place by moving bunk beds and matresses to their appropriate positions. This is a "Double Hour" opportunity to earn two hours for each setup hour worked.
• 9 PM at Turkey Roost - Bad Movie Night: Join Wolff's "Bad Movie Night", the third year this popular dead-dog event has brought together stragglers staying through Monday for one final night to gather for free popcorn and take in the very worst that Hollywood has to offer.
• 10 PM at Turkey Roost - Kitchen Closed: Concession sales are subject to end at 10 PM. The kitchen will not reopen on Monday, so be sure to make any last minute purchases and expend all your concession tickets prior to the close of the kitchen on Sunday.
• 11 PM at A-Frame #1 - Werewolves of the Dark Arts: Join Tobias as he hosts another year of our popular take on 'Are You a Werewolf?'. Immensely popular in 2009, this group participation game is not only engaging, but may keep you up having a howling good time until the sun comes up!
• Midnight at Turkey Roost - Closed: Turkey Roost closes and is locked to the general public.
